    You have a responsibility to see if anyone owns the watch first. I think waiting 30 days is not out of the question. You can make minimal effort to find the owner by posting it in lost and found of craigslist. Obviously you ask people who respond, to describe it in detail and where they may have lost it.

    You are obligated to make a reasonable attempt to locate the owner if it is over a certain value. The length of time required and the value varies by state, you can contact your local police department to get that info. Post it on Craigslist or post found signs around the area you found it. You definitely want to cover your butt before you pawn it. If it was reported stolen, and you pawned it, it could lead to a lot of headache for you in the future.
